Developer Granzella announced last week that it will delay the release of the R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos game to 2025. The game was initially set for release in the West in the Summer of 2023, but it was postponed to the Autumn of 2024 and now to 2025.

The game will be available for PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

The first game in the series, R-Type, was published in 1987. The R-Type Final I was released in 2003 for PlayStation 2, and the R-Type Tactics and R-Type Tactics II went on sale in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Tozai Games then launched R-Type Dimensions, a compilation of the first two R-Type games, on PC via Steam in November 2018.
Granzella released the R-Type Final 2 sequel game for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC via Steam worldwide in April 2021, and publisher NIS America released the R-Type Final Evolve game for Playstation 5 in North America and Europe in April 2023.
