Umeki Aoi (Pop Team Epic) is directing the anime at Drive studio, as well as writing scripts and designing characters.
The anime is an adaptation of Syundei’s Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! BL manga. Syundei (Gesshoku Kitan, Zatsuon) started the original manga as a short in December 2014 and began regular serialization in June 2015 in Akene Shinsha’s Opera magazine. Akene Shinsha published the manga as a tankoubon volume in May 2017.
Syundei started a sequel manga in June 2017 titled Motto Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! (Go for It Again, Nakamura!) in Opera magazine, and Akene Shinsha published the manga as a volume in August 2021.
The manga is slated to return in the winter of 2024 on the Comiplex web manga site.
