Staff for the Jingai Kyoushitsu no Ningen-girai Kyoushi (A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans/ 人外教室の人間嫌い教師 ) TV anime have revealed the show’s main promotional video and confirmed that the anime will premiere on January 10th, 2026.

The anime will debut on ABC TV, TV Asahi and 22 other channels in Japan on the Animazing!!! programming block on January 10th at 26:00 (effectively January 11th at 2:00 a.m.). The anime will also be available to stream on the ABEMA and d Anime Store platforms from January 11th at 2:30 a.m.
Iwanaga Akira is directing the anime at Asread studios, and the anime will star:
- Madusa Toshiki as Rei Hitoma
- Amamiya Sora as Kyoka Minazuki
- Ounishi Saori as Isaki Ogami
- Naganawa Maria as Sui Usami
- Tanabe Rui as Tobari Haneda
- Numakura Manami as Karin Ryuzaki
- Fukuen Misato as Machi Zezu
- Ueda Reina as Neneko Kurosawa
- Ishikawa Yui as Aoi Wakaba
- Horie Yui as Maki Okonogi
Staff for the anime also revealed four new cast members this week:
- Inoue Honoka as Mirai Haruna
- Inoue Kazuhiko as Shiro Karasuma
- Ishii Makoto as Satoru Hoshino
- Kayano Ai as Yuki Saotome
The anime is based on the Jingai Kyoushitsu no Ningen-girai Kyoushi: Hitoma-sensei, Watashi-tachi ni Ningen o Oshiete Kuremasu ka……? (人外教室の人間嫌い教師 ヒトマ先生、私たちに人間を教えてくれますか……? ) light novel series by Kurusu Natsume. Kadokawa published Kurusu’s first novel, with illustrations by Izumi, in February 2022 and the fourth novel in February 2025.
Manga artist Benino started the manga adaptation in August 2022 in Kadokawa’s Shonen Ace magazine, and Kadokawa published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in March 2023. The manga’s fourth and final volume was released in September 2025.
Yen Press publishes both the novel series and manga adaptation in English under the name A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans. It will release the third novel on April 14th, 2026 and the manga’s second volume on December 16th, 2025. Yen Press describes the novel’s story below:
“I’m Rei Hitoma, a self-professed misanthrope thanks to some past trauma. Just when I thought my new teaching job in the mountains would provide a chill, rejuvenating environment, it turns out that this school is actually for demi-humans who want to become full-fledged human beings! There’s a mermaid, a werewolf, a rabbit, and a bird…all of whom are now my charges. It’s my duty to teach them about humankind—and maybe in the process, I’ll learn a few things myself. This isn’t an alternate world or a case of reincarnation. It’s just the story of a teacher at a somewhat peculiar school and his students who are striving to become human.”
