The 23rd and final novel in the Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime/ 転生したらスライムだった件) light novel series by Fuse and Vah Mitz revealed that the series will get a new side story, which is scheduled for release in 2026.
Fuse started the Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken novel series in 2013 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website, and Micro Magazine published the first novel with illustrations by Vah in May 2014, and the series’ 22nd novel in January 2025. The 23rd and final novel was released on November 29th, 2025.
Yen Press releases the novel series under the name That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and it will release the series’s 22nd novel on February 10th, 2026. Yen Press describes the novel series below:
“Lonely thirty-seven-year-old Satoru Mikami is stuck in a dead-end job, unhappy with his mundane life, but after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a fantasy realm…as a slime monster! As he acclimates to his goopy new existence, his exploits with the other monsters set off a chain of events that will change his new world forever!”
Due to the popularity of the original novel series, there have been numerous manga adaptations, manga spinoffs, TV anime adaptations and anime films. All three seasons of the TV anime titled That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime can be streamed on the Crunchyroll website, and a fourth season, along with a new anime film, has been announced.
