The Saikyou Mahoushi no Inton Keikaku (The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan/ 最強魔法師の隠遁計画) light novel series by Izushiro and Miyuki Ruria is being adapted into a TV anime, which will premiere in 2027.
A teaser video and visual have been released, and both Miyuki, the illustrator for the novels, and Yoneshiro Karu, the artist behind the manga adaptation, have released illustrations in celebration of the anime news.

Suzuki Yuusuke is directing the anime at HOTLINE studios, and the anime will star Uemura Yuuto as Alus Reigin.
Author Izushiro started the original story in 2015 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website, and Hobby Japan published the first novel with illustrations by Miyuki in March 2017. The 20th novel was released in December 2025.
J-Novel Club releases the novels in English under the name The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan, and it released the 19th novel digitally on May 21st, 2026. J-Novel Club describes the novel story below:

Manga artist Yonoshiro began the manga adaptation of the novels, titled Saikyou Mahoushi no Inton Keikaku: The Alternative (最強魔法師の隠遁計画－ジ・オルターネイティブ－) in August 2020 in Square Enix’s Manga UP! app. Square Enix published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in February 2021 and the 10th and final volume in January 2024. The manga is released digitally in English by Comikey.
Yonoshiro will also launch a prequel manga titled Saikyou Mahoushi no Inton Keikaku Zero -Hajimari no Hishi-roku-(最強魔法師の隠遁計画 ゼロ -始まりの秘史録- ) to commemorate the novel’s anime adaptation. The manga is set to begin in the winter of 2026.
