Ikehata Hiroshi is directing the anime at CUE studios.

The anime is based on Koshita Tetsuhiro’s Honou no Toukyuujo: Dodge Danko (炎の闘球女 ドッジ弾子) manga, which is a sequel to Koshita’s Honou no Toukyuuji Dodge Danpei (炎の闘球児 ドッジ弾平) manga.
The original Honou no Toukyuuji Dodge Danpei manga ran from 1989 to 1995 in Shogakukan’s Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine. Shogakukan published a total of 18 tankoubon volumes. The manga was adapted into a TV anime that premiered in 1991 and ran for 47 episodes.

Koshita started the sequel manga, Honou no Toukyuujo: Dodge Danko, in November 2022 on Shogakukan’s Weekly CoroCoro Comic Website. Shogakukan published the manga’s first volume in April 2023 and the sixth volume in August 2025. The manga’s seventh and eighth volumes are both scheduled for release on July 6th, 2026.

Shogakukan’s CoroCoro Website describes the Honou no Toukyuujo: Dodge Danko manga below:
