Manga creator Aimoto Shou announced on her Twitter account on August 28th that her Kemono Jihen (怪物事変 ) manga is going on a short hiatus after her brother died on August 15th, 2026. The manga is scheduled to return in the November 2026 issue of Shueisha’s Jump SQ, available for sale on October 2nd, 2026.

Aimoto started the manga in December 2016 in Shueisha’s Jump SQ, and Shueisha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in March 2017. The 25th manga volume, released on August 4th, 2026, confirmed that the manga series will end with the release of its next volume.

Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in English under the name Kemono Jihen, and it will release the manga’s 22nd volume on September 22nd, 2026. Seven Seas describes the manga story below:

“In a quiet rural village, livestock has been dying off in a strange manner. Inugami, a detective of the occult, is summoned from Tokyo to solve the mystery. He meets a boy scorned by the villagers, who call him Dorotabo after a yokai that dwells in the muddy fields. Inugami soon learns that there is more to the boy than meets the eye…and vice-versa”
