Kadokawa has revealed a new key visual and main cast for the Akuyaku Reijou wa Ringoku no Outaishi ni Dekiai Sareru (The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom/ 悪役令嬢は隣国の王太子に溺愛される) TV anime, and it has confirmed that the anime will premiere on Japanese TV in January 2026.

Hamana Takayuki is directing the anime at Studio DEEN, and the anime will star Fuchigami Mai as Tiararose, Umehara Yuuichirou as Aquasteed, Satou Takuta as Hartknights, and Hanamori Yumiri as Akari.

The anime is an adaptation of the light novel series of the same name by Punichan. Author Punichan (Kaifukushoku no Akuyaku Reijou, Akuyaku Reijou wa Camping Car de Tabi ni Deru) started the romance story in March 2016 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website, and Kadokawa’s B’s-Log Bunko imprint published the first novel with illustrations by Naruse Akeno in October 2026. The series’ 14th novel was released in November 2023.

The story follows Tiararose, the villainess of the protagonist’s favourite otome romance game. The protagonist is reincarnated as Tiararose and resigns herself to accepting the in-game judgment event and the fate that awaits her. However, just as her fiancé breaks off their engagement, the game throws up a marriage proposal event that wasn’t in the game’s original scenario — from Aquasteed, the crown prince of the neighbouring country. Aquasteed is a character to be conquered in the sequel… but even Tiararose can’t figure out what happens next!?

Due to the popularity of the novel series, it was also adapted into an ongoing manga by Hoshina in December 2017 on Kadokawa’s B’s-Log COMIC and an otome visual novel by OperaHouse. The game was released in Japan for Nintendo Switch in March 2024 and for PC via Steam in September 2024. The game can be found under the English name The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom.
