The first volume of Ohtake Masao’s J⇔M, published by Kadokawa, is now available for sale. An accomplished comedy mangaka known for the well-received Hinamatsuri, Ohtake’s new manga was one of several that launched Kadokawa‘s new Harta Alternative platform, created for the Harta magazine’s 10th anniversary, beginning serialization on May 8, 2023.

On one side, J (born Jun’ichi), an orphan who grew up into a deadly hitman head and shoulders above his colleagues, his only quirk being a fixation on maintaining a “hard-boiled” persona. On the other, Akahoshi Megumi, a clever-beyond-her-age half-American grade-schooler who gets bullied at school and pushed into studying by her insanely abusive mother. When the two quite literally bump into each other, they inexplicably switch bodies with no apparent way to turn back. Until he figures out what happened to the two of them, J has no choice but to pretend to be Megumi, attending school even though he never received a proper education, dealing with bullies and Megumi’s controlling mother, while also managing his assassination business by pretending to be his own pupil. For how long can he manage this bewildering tightrope act?

Harta‘s official account also announced that a sticker sheet will be distributed with the volume release until reserves run out.
