Staff for the Bukiyouna Senpai (My Awkward Senpai/ 不器用な先輩。) TV anime have confirmed that the anime will premiere in Japan on October 2nd, 2025, on the Tokyo MX channel at 10:00 p.m. and the BS NTV channel at 11:00 p.m. The anime will also be available to stream in Japan on the U-NEXT and Anime Hodai services from October 2nd, at 10:3o p.m.
Kotake Ayumu (Acro Trip) is directing the anime at Studio Elle, and the anime will star Lynn as the protagonist, Azusa Kannawa, Sakata Shougo as Yuu Kamegawa, Maeshima Ami as Miho Hotta, and Saiga Mitsuki as Ritsu Kankaiji.

The anime is based on Kudo Makoto’s Bukiyouna Senpai manga. Kudo started the manga on their Twitter account in March 2019 and began serialisation in December 2019 in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine. Square Enix published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in March 2020 and the ninth volume in March 2025. The manga’s 10th volume will be released on September 25th, 2025.
Square Enix’s Manga UP! Global service releases the manga chapters digitally in English under the name My Awkward Senpai, and it describes the manga below:
“Kannawa-senpai is considered many things, but smooth is definitely not one of them. Then she meets Kamegawa, her new Kouhai. He’s cute, a little nerdy, and easy to talk to. How will this awkward Senpai be able to handle these new feelings?!”
