Following the series’ conclusion on September 15 and followed by an epilogue chapter one month later, the cover for the seventh and final volume of Ippatu’s Toratsugumi – TSUGUMI PROJECT has been revealed; the volume will be available for sale on November 6 in Japan. A production initiated by French publisher Ki-oon, the series was written in Japanese but first published in France on July 4, 2019, and later serialized in Kodansha‘s Weekly Young Magazine starting on January 25, 2021. Kodansha USA licensed the series in English in 2022.

Roughly 260 years ago, Japan’s government initiated the “Toratsugumi” (“scaly thrush”) secret weapon project, which the rest of the world deemed so extremely dangerous the whole country was summarily blanketed with nuclear bombs. Now, in the present time, a squad of death-row convicts has been assigned the mission to retrieve the mysterious weapon and make it back alive within a year in exchange for their freedom. However, before they can land in Tokyo, their transport plane is knocked right out of the sky. One of the convicts, Leon, miraculously survives the crash but now has to find the means to survive in the irradiated, mutant-infested ruins that used to be the Japanese capital. As he wanders through the city, he encounters a strange young girl with bird-like legs, more animal than human in behaviour. When he manages to communicate with her, she tells him her name: Tsugumi.
