The staff for the Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai (カヤちゃんはコワくない /Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary) TV anime have released a second promotional video and confirmed that the anime will premiere on January 11th, 2026, on TV Tokyo and its affiliated channels. The anime will also air on the AT-X channel from January 11th and on WOWOW starting on January 13th.

Ikehata Hiroshi is directing the anime at East Fish Studio, and the anime will star:

- Uchida Maaya as Chie-sensei
- Kaji Yuuki as Namu
- Ochiai Fukushi as Mobuo
- Tadokoro Azusa as Akira-sensei
- Izawa Shiori as Chihiro-sensei
- Morikawa Toshiyuki as Shizuo Sato
- Noto Mamiko as Mirai Sato
- Tomatsu Haruka as Nana Ebisumori
- Sakakibara Yoshiko as Mutsu Ebisumori

The anime is based on the Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai manga by Yuri Tarou. Yuri started the horror manga in April 2022 on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website, and Shinchosha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in August 2022. The manga’s seventh volume was released in June 2025, and the manga’s eighth volume is scheduled for release on January 8th, 2026.


Seven Seas Entertainment releases the manga in English under the name Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary, and it will release the manga’s fourth volume on January 6th, 2026 and the fifth volume on May 5th, 2026. Seven Seas describes the manga below:
“Kaya-chan is a notorious problem child in her kindergarten, but none of the adults know her secret–till Chie-sensei is put in charge and learns of Kaya-chan’s hidden ability to see evil spirits and vanquish them with a punch! What will happen to this five-year-old who gets in trouble when she’s only trying to help?”
