Staff for the Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu (How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord/ 異世界魔王と召喚少女の奴隷魔術 ) TV anime have confirmed that the show has been green-lit for a third season titled How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord ULT. A new visual, drawn by Tsurusaki Takahiro, has also been revealed.

The anime’s first season premiered in July 2018, and the second season, titled How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Omega, in April 2021. The first two seasons of the anime can be streamed on the Crunchyroll website, and Crunchyroll describes the anime’s story below:
“Sakamoto Takuma was so strong in the MMORPG Cross Reverie that his fellow players came to call him the “demon lord.” One day, he gets summoned to another world in his avatar form, and meets two girls who both insist that they’re the one who summoned him. They cast a spell used to enslave summoned beasts on him, but that activates his unique ability, Magic Reflect, and the girls end up being the ones put under the spell! And thus begins the otherworldly adventure of a demon lord (pretend) who blazes his own trail through overwhelming power.”
The anime is based on the Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu light novel series by author Murasaki Yukiya and illustrator Tsurusaki Takahiro. Kodansha published the series’s first novel in December 2014 and the 14th novel in June 2021.
J-Novel Club has released all 14 novels digitally in English under the name How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord, and it describes the novel’s story below:
“In the MMORPG Cross Reverie, Takuma Sakamoto is so powerful that he is lauded as the “Demon Lord” by other players. One day, he is summoned to a world outside his own– but with the same appearance he had in the game! There, he meets two girls who both proclaim themselves to be his Summoner. They perform an Enslavement Ritual to turn him into their Summon… but that’s when Takuma’s passive ability <<Magic Reflection>> activates! Instead, it is the girls who become enslaved! Though Takuma may be the strongest Sorcerer there is, he has no idea how to talk with other people. It is here he makes his choice: to act based on his persona from the game! “Amazing? But of course… I am Diablo, the being known and feared as the Demon Lord!” So begins a tale of adventure with an earth-shakingly powerful Demon Lord (or at least someone who acts like one) taking on another world!”
The novel series was adapated into a manga by Fukuda Naoto in June 2015, and Kodansha has published 28 tankoubon volumes. The manga’s 29th volume will be released on April 9th, 2026.
Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in English under the name How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord, and it will release the 25th volume on September 29th, 2026.
