The official website for the Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita (Reincarnated as a Sword/転生したら剣でした) TV anime has revealed that the anime’s second season will begin streaming early on September 30th, 2026, on ABEMA streaming services, and it will debut on Japanese TV on October 7th, 2026, on Tokyo MX and ABC TV channels. A new trailer and visual have been revealed.

The anime’s first season premiered in October 2022 on the Tokyo MX channel, and it was streamed by Hidive. Ishihira Shinji directed the first season at C2C Studios and returns as the director for the second season.
The anime is based on the Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita (Reincarnated as a Sword) light novel series by Tanaka Yuu (Deokure Tamer no Sono Higurashi), which began in September 2015 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website. Publisher Gentosha began publishing the light novel with illustrations by LLO (Mushi-Uta, Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru, Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai) in July 2016, and the 20th novel in October 2025. The 21st novel is scheduled for release on September 30th, 2026.
The light novel series inspired a manga adaptation by Maruyama Tomowo in December 2016 on Gentosha’s Denshi Birz website, now known as Comic Boost. The manga’s first tankoubon volume was released in April 2017, and the latest volume, number 19, was released in March 2026.
Both the light novel series and the manga, as well as the manga spinoff, Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita: Another Wish (Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish) by Inoue Hinako, are released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. The novels are published under the name Reincarnated as a Sword, and the 20th novel will be released in English on January 5th, 2027. Seven Seas describes the novel story below:
