The Shibuya City Tourism Association’s official mascot character, Shibuya Love Hachi, will get an anime adaptation with the same name. A website opened this week to announce the news, confirming that the anime will premiere in April 2024 on the TV Tokyo channel.

The TV anime is part of the commemoration of what would have been the 100th birthday of the city’s faithful dog, Hachiko. In the anime, Hachi has been watching over the city as the symbol of Shibuya station’s loyal dog, the Hachiko statue. Hachi begins to move in this present-day Shibuya, having a relaxed and fun daily life with his cheerful friends.
