"Then take me on as a sacrifice for the karasu-tengu." There is a legend that Lord Rivu, a crow tengu, presides over Suzu Village. However, ravaging storms and winds lay waste to the crops year after year, and the villagers are desperate for succor. To appease the wrathful deity, the villagers offer a bridal candidate every year to the crow tengu in exchange for a quiet, bountiful season. Now, it's Yana’s turn to become the next sacrifice. She counts down the days by tending to Lord Rivu’s shrine and learning how to be a perfect bride. To her dismay, Lord Rivu sends down his personal servant, Rinsho, to keep watch over her. Ribbons of fate, bonds, and identity entwine—but does Yana choose to protect the village, or will she defy her fate as the crow tengu’s bride? It begs the question…how does one earn the love of a deity?

Yo Keikaru! Just ran across "Bride of the Crow Tengu" on NamiComi and had to stop. Yana volunteering herself as the next sacrifice to appease Lord Rivu is such a stellar, high stakes hook. Historical folklore mixed with that tense, quiet dread of her waiting and prepping to be a deity’s bride is exactly the kind of slow burn supernatural drama that keeps you turning pages.
The dynamic between Yana and Rinsho is begging for a visual adaptation. Seriously, the tension of Lord Rivu sending his personal servant down to keep watch over her while she's trying to learn how to be the "perfect sacrifice" has so much cinematic potential. I keep picturing a dramatic, dark manga spread shrouded in wind, feathers, and shadows illustrating the heavy ribbons of fate twisting around Yana as she stands by the shrine. It would look absolutely stunning in a high contrast manga style.
