Anxious overachiever Cain and hyperactive oddball alien-hybrid Vinca have their mundane lives on a struggling Martian colony disrupted, as Vinca has been selected to attend the prestigious Citadel Academy, where Cain is a student in training to take the place of his mentor, the Martian Chancellor. As the two reluctantly learn to get along, Cain and Vinca discover a seemingly abandoned laboratory that may hold the answers to the mysterious disappearance of a scientist from long ago, as they begin working together to uncover the dark truths that lie buried deep beneath the Martian soil.
