Ryo, a young ronin, and his sister, Akari, are on a journey to find an elusive samurai with white hair who they believe will be able to help them. Following a lead into a small village, troubles arise when Ryo's sword gets stolen and Akari's identity as a yokai is exposed. The siblings are saved by Suzuka, one of the villagers, who recognizes they are not a threat. She agrees to tell them about the white-haired samurai, as long as they do something for her first.

‘Roads of Ryo’ is one of the best webcomics I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing (I say this as I’m only on episode 2 lol)
The art is superb, the direction masterful as well. Characters have simple yet distinct designs and shape language. The shading and colors are handpicked from only the best possible combinations.
Backgrounds are detailed yet simplistic. I’m sure it took quite a while as well! The layout is chef’s kiss! It’s very easy to read while maintaining a fluid and easy flow. Panel spacing is perfect and leaves the reader a lingering sense of understanding and depth.
The effects (like colored backgrounds and dash lines) are SPECTACULAR! I am in literal (and metaphorical) love with the dotted circles that are used in a wide variety of ways.
The characters are easy to read and fun! Their personalities are distinct yet not overly abstract or overly simplified.
This webcomic has some dark moments without warning which I love to see. I have the issue of losing emotional connection to scenes where the warning sort of spoils it (not advocating against TW’s, just that it helps me more personally without them).
Overall, 10/10; will study for my webcomic that will begin to be serialized in 10 decades from now.
