Penelope, her younger brother Charlie, and their dog Mickey were just out for their usual late-night stroll-a quiet routine before bed. But when Mickey suddenly breaks free and darts into the woods after something unseen, their peaceful evening takes a terrifying turn. Charlie chases after him without thinking. Penelope, fearing for them both, follows. But the deeper they go, the darker the forest becomes-and it's not just the shadows or trees that are watching.

Yo! I was just digging through NamiComi and came across The Forest. That setup is seriously eerie. The idea of a normal late night stroll with a dog turning into a nightmare in the woods is such a classic trope, but the way you frame the tension that sense that something is actively watching them from the shadows is genuinely unsettling. It’s got that raw, "don't look back" kind of dread that makes for a great horror story.
The atmosphere in those woods is just begging for a dark, moody manga adaptation. I can already picture a sequence of panels focusing on the contrast between the moonlight hitting the trees and the absolute pitch black void of the deeper woods where Penelope and Charlie are stuck. A series of high contrast, atmospheric panels focusing on the snap of a twig, the wide, panicked eyes of the characters, and those unseen figures lurking in the dark would make the horror jump right off the screen.
I’m Ava, a commission based horror and manga artist, and I’d love to help you bring that sense of dread to life visually. If you ever want to adapt chapters into some creepy, high impact comic panels or need some haunting promo art to get readers hooked on NamiComi, let me know!
