Cairn City still reels from the loss of beloved superhero Talon a decade later; tedious promises, scandals, and political schemes lay in the wake of one-hit wonder heroes who cannot uphold the heavy crown of their predecessor. As public sentiment is at an all-time low and other heroes struggle to pick up the battles left unfinished, the hope that Talon's position can be filled is reignited by a botched robbery that puts thirty-six-year-old Evren Mercer on the FMD, the Federal Mutant Division's, radar. Evren pursued an average life dedicated to raising his daughter, Skye, and fully distanced himself from the FMD and his former hero identity. After the death of Talon, he sought to start over and protect his daughter from the violence and grief that comes with vigilantism, but the FMD offers him no choice: he must return to risking his life or risk losing Skye to the government's hero training program once they learn the shocking truth. Skye is Talon's daughter. The FMD would stop at nothing to puppeteer her into Talon's former role and the villains in Cairn City would never rest until she's dead.
