Brick, a scavenger and denizen of Tangletown, dreams of the big score in the Ruins that will allow her to leave a ravaged earth and enjoy a better life in the Galactic Federation. She discovers an ancient, but still functioning Synthoid (robot) Fathom 44 unit with mode shifting abilities. It despises most humans, but needs her to refuel in vehicle mode and avoid discovery by a populace still bitter about the Synth war that ruined the world. “Faff” seeks to join his brethren offworld. In subsequent adventures, Brick is badly injured and Faff gives her a cybernetic arm. Chazz, her competitor unleashes a small army of Synthoids led by Mordread bent on human extermination and revenge on the traitorous Fathom 44 unit. Brick and Faff must travel across a strange and hostile world to the only spaceport while surviving mutants, raiders, monsters, robots, and Mordread’s horde.
