The official website for the Magical Explorer – Eroge no Yuujin Chara ni Tensei Shita kedo, Game Chishiki Tsukatte Jiyuu ni Ikiru (Magical Explorer: Reborn as a Side Character in a Fantasy Dating Sim) TV anime has revealed the first promotional video and key visual; it has also confirmed that the anime will debut in October 2026.

Ohashi Kazuki is directing the anime at WHITE FOX studios, and the anime will star:
- Shimazaki Nobunaga as Kosuke Takioto
- Kakama Ai as Ludie
- Ounishi Saori as Yukine Mizumori
- M.A.O as Nanami
The anime is based on the Magical Explorer – Eroge no Yuujin Chara ni Tensei Shita kedo, Game Chishiki Tsukatte Jiyuu ni Ikiru ( マジカル★エクスプローラー エロゲの友人キャラに転生 したけど、ゲーム知識使って自由に生きる) light novel series by Iris and Kannatsuki Noboru.
Author Iris started the story in February 2018 on the Shosetsuka ni Narou website, and Kadokawa published the first novel in November 2019 with illustrations by Kannatsuki. The series’s 13th novel was released in April 2026, and the 14th novel will be released on October 1st, 2026.
Higa Yukari adapted the story into a manga in August 2020 in Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up magazine, and Kadokawa published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in March 2021. The manga’s third volume was released in January 2026, and the fourth volume will be released on October 2nd, 2026.
Yen Press publishes both the light novels and manga adaptation in English under the name Magical Explorer: Reborn as a Side Character in a Fantasy Dating Sim. It will release the 12th novel on November 10th, 2026, and the manga’s second volume was released in January 2025. Yen Press describes the novel story below:
“In this world, people known as Informationists sell their supernatural abilities for use in armed conflicts. When Tsushima Rindou, an ordinary Informationist, agrees to help a fallen noble named Holy defect from the Balga Empire, he isn’t expecting anything other than a typical escort mission. But there’s much more to his client than she’s letting on, and Balga is intent on keeping Holy within its borders, dispatching the army and an elite group of Informationists known as the Six Imperial Swords to apprehend the pair by any means necessary.
