Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures confirmed this week that Tanimai Tsukasa’s light novel Teogonia has been green-lit for a TV anime adaptation.
Tanimai started the story on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in August 2017. The novels have been released by publisher Shafu to Seikatsu Sha under its Pash! Books label. The first novel, illustrated by Kawano Kouichirou, was released in March 2018, and the third novel in June 2019.
The novels also inspired a manga adaptation by Aoyama Shunsuke, which was published on the Pash Up! website in 2018. The manga’s first tankoubon volume was released in November 2018, and the 11th volume was released on April 5th, 2024.
In the harsh region known as the borderlands, humans must fight an endless battle against demi-human creatures that come at them relentlessly, intent on taking their land and their gods. A young boy named Kai, fighting to defend his village, sustains a life-threatening injury that causes him to regain memories from a past life. You’re playing life on hard mode if you’re not a guardian bearer. Kai’s newfound knowledge gives him a new sense of the unfair “rule set” that governs the world around him. One thing is clear: For those without a god to serve as their guardian, life is a constant struggle for survival. Thus begins the epic tale of a young boy’s ascent into a vast world filled with magic, bloodshed, and mystery.
