It has been confirmed that Azuma Fuyu’s Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Оuota-kun (Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota) manga has been green-lit for a TV anime adaptation in 2025. A promotional video and visual have been revealed, along with an illustration by Azuma.

Kamitani Tomohiro is directing the anime at STUDIO POLON, and the anime will star:

  • Fujita Akane as Kashiwasa-san
  • Natsume Kyouhei as Outa-kun
  • Hirose Yuuya as Tadakoro-kun
  • Horikane Souhei as Sata-kun

Azuma started the manga in July 2018 on Kadokawa’s Dra Dra Sharp website, and Kadokawa published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2018. The manga’s 10th and final volume was released in July 2023. In May 2024, Kadokawa published the first volume of the manga’s side story, titled Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Ouota-kun+.

The manga is published in English by BookWalker Global and MangaPlaza under the name Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota, and they describe the story below:

Kashiwada is a girl who never shows emotions on her face. Oota always tries to surprise her…but never succeeds. Kashiwada and Oota are classmates at a junior high school. Oota is always thinking of pranks to surprise Kashiwada, but he always fails. Kashiwada likes to look at Oota, for he shows his emotions on his face too much. They look like opposite type of people, but they both care about each other.
