Staff for the Isshun de Chiryou Shiteita no ni Yakutatazu to Tsuihou Sareta Tensai Chiyushi, Yami Healer to Shite Tanoshiku Ikiru (The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows) TV anime have confirmed that the anime has been green-lit for a second season. A promotional video and visual have been revealed.

The anime’s first season, directed by Yoshizaki Joe at Makaria Inc., premiered in April 2025. The anime can be streamed on Crunchyroll under the name The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows, and it describes the story below:
“Banished as “useless,” Zenos, a self-taught healer from the slums, turns despair into defiance and opens a secret clinic in the city’s shadows. With unlicensed, unmatched magic, he cures, comforts, and rights wrongs, quietly becoming a legend. But as his power grows, even the royal palace takes notice. Can he buck the odds and heal a world that cast him aside?”

The anime is an adaptation of the light novel series title Isshun de Chiryou Shiteita no ni Yakutatazu to Tsuihou Sareta Tensai Chiyushi, Yami Healer to Shite Tanoshiku Ikiru (一瞬で治療していたのに役立たずと追放された天才治癒師、闇ヒーラーとして楽しく生きる) by Hishikawa Sakaku.
Hishikawa (Chainsaw Man: Buddy Stories) started the story in 2020 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website, and GA Bunko published the first novel in October 2021 with illustrations by Daburyu (Kyuutei Mahou-shi Kubi ni Nattande, Maou ni Natta-Node Dungeon Tsukutte Jingai-Musume to Hono-Bono Suru). The series’s eighth novel was released in March 2025.
The light novels inspired a manga adaptation by Junoichi Ten, which was published on the Piccoma website in January 2022. The manga’s first tankoubon volume was released in August 2022, and the fifth volume was released in June 2025.
J-Novel Club releases both the original novel series and the manga adaptation in English under the name The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows. It released the eighth novel digitally on December 5th, 2025, and it will release the manga’s fifth volume digitally on March 11th, 2026. J-Novel Club describes the story below:
“Life hasn’t been kind to Zenos. He was born in the slums, and his dirt-poor background has denied him almost every opportunity. After an encounter with a healer, he throws himself into studying to become one and finally catches a break when an adventurer invites Zenos into his party.
