The Gangsta. manga was launched in January 2011 on Shinchosha’s Monthly Comic @Bunch magazine. The manga went on hiatus from November 2015 to May 2017 and again from September 2018 to March 2019, due to Kohske’s health. The latest chapter, number 56, was released in December 2019.
In February of 2020, Kohske announced on Twitter that she had been diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, an autoimmune disease. Kohske had been working on other projects on an irregular schedule after revealing in 2021 that she had lost an eye and was experiencing paralysis in her fingers, due to health complications from the autoimmune disease.
Shinchosha published the Gangsta. manga’s first tankoubon volume in July 2011 and the eighth volume in May 2018.

Viz Media has released all eight of the manga volumes in English under the same name, and it describes the manga story below:
“In the city of Ergastulum, a shady ville filled with made men and petty thieves, whores on the make and cops on the take, there are some deeds too dirty for even its jaded inhabitants to touch. Enter the “Handymen,” Nic and Worick, who take care of the jobs no one else will handle. Until the day when a cop they know on the force requests their help in taking down a new gang muscling in on the territory of a top Mafia family. It seems like business (and mayhem) as usual, but the Handymen are about to find that this job is a lot more than they bargained for.”
In July 2014, the manga got a spinoff manga titled Gangsta.: Cursed. EP_Marco Adriano by Kamo Syuhei. The manga ended in February 2018, and Shinchosha published a total of five manga volumes. Viz Media has released all of the manga volumes in English under the name Gangsta: Cursed.

In July 2015, the manga was adapted into an anime with 12 episodes. Murase Shuukou directed the anime at Manglobe studios.
