The final chapter of the web novel Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita (Reincarnated as a Sword) by Tanaka Yuu was published on February 29th, 2024, on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website.
Tanaka (Deokure Tamer no Sono Higurashi) started the story in September 2015 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website. Publisher Gentosha began publishing the light novel with illustrations by LLO (Mushi-Uta, Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru, Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai) in July 2016, and the latest novel, number 17, will be released on March 29th, 2024.
The light novels series inspired a manga adaptation by Maruyama Tomowo in December 2016 on Gentosha’s Denshi Birz website, now known as Comic Boost. The manga’s first tankoubon volume was released in April 2017, and the latest volume, number 15, will be released on March 23rd, 2024.
Both the light novel series and the manga, as well as the manga spinoff, Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita: Another Wish (Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish) by Inoue Hinako, are released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
The novels by Tanaka also inspired a 12-episode TV anime adaptation in October 2022, and there was confirmation that the anime would receive a second season.
