Valentina is a part-time chef at her local seaside restaurant. When the restaurant launches a new seafood menu and welcomes a talented professional chef from Paris, business begins to thrive. But everything changes when one of the fish deliveries includes a mysterious squid with the power to shapeshift. After accidentally taking the squid home, Valentina discovers it is actually a magical squid from an underwater colony who was captured by mistake. Fearing that revealing the truth could put both him and her town in danger, she hides the reality of how he ended up in the human world. At the same time, she desperately tries to keep him from learning what humans usually do to squids in restaurant kitchens hoping he attempts to return home soon.
