In 2019, a large crystal the size of a skyscraper crashed into Earth. It split the U.S in half, also separating it from Canada and Mexico. This event would change the world in many ways, as when the crystal is harnessed, it can give someone powers. Fast forward 49 years. We watch Matthew, a 17-year-old who has had a rough time growing up, being abused by his parents and almost everyone around him, and Grace, a 17-year-old girl who, despite her wealth, is a kind and caring person, who wants to help Matthew try to see the light in the world and wants to help him.
